Saswata Karmakar
Director - Discovery Chemistry & mRNA Centre of Excellence Sanofi
Dr. Saswata Karmakar is a distinguished scientist with over 15 years of expertise in nucleic acid-based diagnostic and therapeutic applications. His current focus includes Lipid Nano Particle (LNP) based-mRNA delivery platform development at Sanofi’s mRNA Center of Excellence in Waltham, USA.
Dr. Karmakar earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Idaho and completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University under Prof. Eric Kool.
His current research focuses on developing innovative mRNA delivery platforms using novel ionizable lipids. His significant contributions to the field are reflected in his impressive publication record in several peer-reviewed scientific articles and numerous US patents spanning nucleic acid chemistry and LNP-mediated mRNA delivery.
As Director of Chemistry at Sanofi, Dr. Karmakar continues to drive advancements in mRNA technology that have potential applications in vaccines and therapeutics.
